Evaluation of LUCAS PDF Print E-mail

Cardiac arrests in the out-of-hospital setting are associated with poor survival rates, with only 2% reportedly surviving to discharge (Colquhoun & Jevon, 2000).  Historically the concepts of CPR and early defibrillation are seen as key treatment interventions.

However, LUCAS, a relatively new chest compression/decompression device, has been shown to be superior to manual chest compressions at maintaining circulation during CPR.This article discusses the evaluation of LUCAS in clinical use by Dorset Ambulance Service in the UK.  Download this Article.

The Extractor PRO water rescue board from EXTRACTOR of California has  been an industry standard for quick rescue pick ups in the surfline, rivers and  other near shore situations for the past 20 years. This model, due to its size  and weight, is designed for use with pwcs where a single rescue operator is  available to operate the pwc, or may be used in situations where a rescue  swimmer is used to assist the victim.
