ALAN (AL) BANNON It is with immense sadness that we announce the Line of Duty death of our friend and colleague Al Bannon on 7th April 2010. Al was an original member of the Technical Rescue Unit upon who's work this magazine was founded. He was a wholetime firefighter with Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service (UK) and died along with colleague James Shears while tackling a blaze in a high rise block of flats in Southampton. He will be hugely missed by all of us and our heartfelt condolensces go out to Al's wife Charlotte, daughter Abi, Lin and Keith, Mum & Dad and all family and friends.
Officially it’s the MSA Gallet Xtrem not ‘Gallet Extreme’ as we’d previously thought. Gallet has become a ‘hoover’-like term for fire-rescue helmets so it’s been difficult to adjust to the new MSA ownership and identity. Download this Article.

The Extractor PRO water rescue board from EXTRACTOR of California has been an industry standard for quick rescue pick ups in the surfline, rivers and other near shore situations for the past 20 years. This model, due to its size and weight, is designed for use with pwcs where a single rescue operator is available to operate the pwc, or may be used in situations where a rescue swimmer is used to assist the victim. www.extractorsled.com
