Team Profile is from Mt Vernon, British Columbia, Canada and features the work of the Silver Star Ski Patrol. Director of Emergency Services Jeremy Griffiths explains the day-to-day procedures for patrollers and details the equipment and training necessary to carry out rescue on the mountain including avalanche control and ski lift rescue.

Supporting this article is another from Canada, this time TRm Canadian Editor Ivan Hansen looks at avalanche search dogs from the state of BC.  Meanwhile in the UK, Richard Hackwell begins a series on the implementation of a new rope rescue system for Cliff Rescue teams around the coast.

Another new series begins this issue from the UK, Extrication involving Heavy Vehicles by Richard Denham and Nick Appleton of London Fire Brigade's Rescue Skills Training Team. The first article focuses on Scene Safety and Assessment and details the features of a modern truck. Long-time readers will recognise that TRm's past master of extrication Andy Clark's work in his series from over a decade ago still holds water today as Richard and Nick favoured using some of his original diagrams for this first article.

Our Extrication Tip this issue is from Steve Barrow of the Hampshire Fire & Rescue Extrication Team and looks at adhesive glass protection and retention film for safely removing all kinds of vehicle glass following an incident. 

Our Market Guide to Water Rescue Craft looks at Hovercraft with 24 models from 14 manufacturers together with details of where and how they can be used in rescue.  

Back in the USA and TRm SAR editor Lee Lang discusses the 'trauma' of   Larimer County SAR Team's re-accreditation for Mountain Rescue Association membership. LCSAR were part of the search effort for the lost boy in a balloon drama played out on TV screens across the US and indeed the world. 

Arizona golden boy Reed Thorne features twice this issue with a look at the development of the AZTEK (Arizona Edge Kit) system. This is very much upgraded version of what we used to call CPS or Casualty Pulley System and owes much to the excellent engineering of Rock Exotica products as well as to Reed's vision. His second article is the penultimate in his 8-part series on the Seven Minimalist Rescue Archetypes with this issue looking at traveling brake pick-off rescues.
