BACKGROUND to TRm
Technical Rescue magazine (TRm) has been the world’s leading Rescue title since its launch 19 years ago. It is a full colour, high quality ‘glossy’ with a high editorial to advertising ratio and is owned, written, edited and peer reviewed by operational rescue services personnel. The magazine is read in 68 countries by SAR personnel seeking to remain current in recent advances and trends in rescue technology.
Editor Ade Scott has been a professional rope specialist and operational rescuer for over 23 years, 9 of these as Head of Operations – Technical Rescue Unit. This Fire Service coordinated Unit pioneered multi-discipline rescue in the UK and remained the UK’s only such agency until the events of 9.11 catapulted technical rescue as a discipline into the mainstream. Unit personnel continue to provide training, testing and trialing of equipment for the magazine and Ade remains an operational rescuer and consultant to various government and media agencies. His work on TRm is supported by an experienced team comprising full-time firefighters, coastguards, paramedics, doctors and water rescuers from the UK as well as hugely talented US rescue professionals: Reed Thorne is TRm’s Rope Rescue Editor while Ben Waller takes over the reigns from our sadly missed US Editor and water rescue guru the late Jim Segerstrom. Our prestigious North American team is completed with Lee Lang from SAR, Sean Johnson of Fresno Fire Dept, Greg Churchman ex-Regina Fire Dept and Cptn Ivan Hansen our Canadian Editor. Elsewhere we have Len Batley of South Australia Fire Service, Mine’s Rescue’s Brian Robinson (Wales) and Dr Stewart Boyd on the frontline in South Africa.
HARD COPY READERSHIP Profile
TRm’s primary market is the UK and USA/Canada with Europe & Australasia providing the next largest proportion for editorial consideration. Circulation figures vary depending on special events from 6000 to 10,000 but our readership is very highly targeted towards technical disciplines other than firefighting. In 2011 a digital version of TRm will become available and North American magazines will begin being printed in the US to help maintain our new low subscription price.
NEW Website
TRm launched its new website at the end of 2009. The website provides a cleaner interface with users and enhanced capabilities for searching. The website provides the ability to provide enhanced traffic monitoring that can be provided to advertsiers upon request to allow easier measurement of ROI for your investment.
